Did you know that no matter what anyone says, your pain is real?
Did you know that it is possible to do more than simply "manage," and that you can recover from your pain?
Many of us assume that when we are in pain there is some underlying problem occuring in our tissues. Sometimes there is, but often, it's more complicated than that.
Did you know your environment, your sleep, your level of conditioning, as well as your belief systems are all factors that can make the body more susceptible to pain? It may surprise you to know that the relationship between pain and actual tissue damage gets weaker the longer that we've experienced it.
Look back at the past week: what conditions have been surrounding you? An intense jog? A weekend of moving homes? The flu? Emotional upset? An increase in your workload or conflict with your boss? An article touting the importance of sitting "correctly"? All of these stressors contribute to how much pain we experience from one day to the next. If this is confusing, you can utilize the resources below to develop a deeper understanding of how multifactorial our pain system is. Amazingly, simply learning more about all the contributors are can give us great relief.
